Face Behind Laganini Co.

Hi there! I’m Filipa, the founder of Laganini Co. I just wanted to introduce myself and help you understand where we come from and why we embarked on this already remarkable journey as well as what to expect in our Blog Posts.

I have loved nature for as long as I can remember. Born, and raised in Croatia, (where the name Laganini comes from [emoji]), I spent my early childhood living near the mountains and in close proximity to my grandfather's bee farm. Although I later moved to the capital, and eventually to urban California, it's always been a mission of mine to escape to places where nature thrives. Even with my busy schedule, I always make time to go to the beach or mountains on the weekend. There is just something about the outdoors that brings me peace and tranquility. Afterall, right before I started Laganini Co. I walked 270 miles from the highest point in the continental U.S. (Mt. Whitney) to California's true gem, Yosemite National Park. And let me tell you, you really have to LOVE nature to do something like that.

To back track slightly, during the pandemic, I completed my degree in sport psychology. I'm a former competitive athlete and have always been fascinated by the science of human behavior. However, when life shut down, and sports were abruptly taken away from me, I turned my focus to something new, gardening. I started with a simple planter of sunflowers, but I quickly discovered my passion and love for horticulture. It didn’t take long before I understood the impact plants had on my mental health and it was then that a lightbulb went off in my head. Plants = Happy Filipa, and with a little bit more research, I realized something that was proven long before, PLANTS IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH! It’s no wonder why the pandemic suddenly became more manageable when I started surrounding myself and my home with plants!

Here, you'll be able to find summarized science articles we find interesting regarding horticulture, plants and their relationship with mental health. We also welcome any feedback and/or scholarly articles you might find interesting that you would like to share with us.

We hope that outside of our pop-up life, we'll be able to connect with our virtual community and give others an opportunity to add some peace and tranquilly to their homes. At Laganini, we have a saying, “ Bring Nature Indoors.” It is our sincere hope that you’ll take that to heart and find as much joy in your plants as I did in mine.

Take it Easy now,

Filipa
